FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – St. Lawrence NYSARC, a private, non-profit organization committed to maximizing the potential of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, received an $8,000 grant to increase recreational options. The funds were combined with a significant donation from Richard Alexander of Watertown, N.Y. to take 12 people with disabilities on a trip to Disney World.
Mr. Alexander’s generous contribution and the gift from NYSARC, Inc. made it possible for a dozen individuals with developmental disabilities to have a fun-filled week in Orlando, Fla. The trip began with an overnight stay at Mr. Alexander’s Quality Inn & Suites, located at 1190 Arsenal St. in Watertown. After an exciting flight, the travelers spent four days visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom. The group thoroughly enjoyed their accommodations and the pool at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex!
The Trustees of the NYSARC, Inc. Trust approved a remainder fund grant of $8,000 per chapter to provide recreational opportunities for people they support. Last year the Chapter received a similar grant from NYSARC Trust Services. A total of $1,874,000 in remainder grants was awarded in 2015 to support recreation and guardianship statewide.
